Our design for this 3,800-square-foot conference center for the TreePeople Center for Community Forestry was inspired by the surrounding landscape of the Santa Monica Mountains. We designed a building that blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The Platinum LEED-certified building is oriented to make the best use of the sun and natural breezes for heating and cooling. The structure absorbs heat within the concrete walls and releases that stored energy at night. Reclaimed materials from existing on-site structures were also used within the building.
